Emerson offers students and families a 360-degree college counseling program that begins with the College Counseling Hour each Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m, and that often extends well beyond a student's first day at college--with informal follow-up and support for those crucial first days at school. For resources to aid in the college selection and admissions process go to the college Resource Page.
To schedule an appointment or find out more information, contact Lisa Schamess, our director of the college program, at lisa.schamess@emersonprep.net.
CoCo (College Counseling) takes place Thursdays through December at 3:30. Meet college admissions counselors, get help with your college search and application, and find out about test prep for the SAT, ACT, TOEFL, and AP tests. Juniors must attend 4 CoCo sessions and Seniors must attend 6.

Family and Student Meetings - We meet with family and students as needed to finalize college application plans and recommendations. We meet with each senior at least once in the fall term.
Ongoing follow-up - We monitor student progress in the college application process, recommend students for special programs and scholarships as appropriate, and notify all students of college visiting days, summer travel programs, internships, scholarship opportunities, and other possibilities.
Test Practice and Prep - Emerson offers Practice Tests on Saturday mornings, beginning at 10 a.m. on the practice test day and continuing until approximately 2 p.m. Practices are free but please send your student with lunch and practice supplies, including a calculator and pencils. We also can provide paid tutoring for standardized tests on a per-student basis. In 2011, Emerson is partnering with RevolutionPrep to offer ongoing coaching for the SATs and other standardized tests.
Testing Site - Emerson is a testing site for the PSAT and AP tests. However, please note that we do NOT administer the SAT or TOEFL tests here; you must locate another test site.
