That's what more than one Emerson parent has told us. We take pride in creating meaningful learning experiences and lasting relationships with our students and families. Our teachers feel it, too: As a faculty member said to me the other day, "I can't think of many jobs in my life in which I've looked forward to each day the way I look forward to coming to Emerson." I personally have to agree.
I invite you to join in supporting a school that has upheld a longstanding tradition of intellectual exploration and respect for the individual student, often through hard financial times. There are many ways to support Emerson. Here are just a few:
Make a secure, direct, tax-deductible contribution online or send your contribution to the school at 1324 18th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036, Attention: Support.
Help us spread the word about Emerson. We are stepping up our efforts to reach out and let families know how great we are. Talk up the school and send your testimonial to Forrest Malone. Alumni groups are forming for many class years. You can find them on Facebook or send us an email if you want to be part of the Alumni Network.
Contribute your skills, services, or items to the school. Contact Forrest at the email address above if you have an idea.
Serve on the Parents Association or on a Board committee. Contact me at john.glick@emersonprep.net to get started.
Visit our new spirit stores at and Amazon to load up on gifts for special occasions as well as fun gear.
Or surprise us! What you YOU like to do for the school?
In closing, I'd like to say a special thanks to our terrific faculty and families.
Emerson currently has the strongest faculty it has ever had, and they are working tirelessly to make the school stronger. From volunteering their time to upgrade computer options at the school, to working intensively with new and current students, to putting together service projects that reach out to philanthropic partners and help our students see the world in a new way--I couldn't hope for a better group of people to work with.
Our families have always been wonderful, but in the past several years we have had indispensable support and guidance from some key parents of students past and present. We really could not be Emerson without these committed individuals. I would especially like to recognize Monika Guttman, 2010-2011 chair of our Parents Association; and Bernard Ohanian and Kate Kelly, co-chairs during the 2011-2012 school year.
This is a great school. We are grateful that you are part of it.
Sincerely,
John M. Glick
